Responsibilities

  • Conducting assessments of the needs and interests of residents through surveys and personal interviews
  • Planning, organizing and overseeing on-site meetings, social activities, and educational programs for adults, seniors, and children that align with the unique needs of our residents
  • Identifying and connecting residents with community resources to support their housing needs, such as low-cost health insurance, food programs, employment, and government entitlements, and providing assistance with the application process
  • Developing and implementing a curriculum and event calendar that supports life skills and overall wellbeing in alignment with the Housing First model, and helping tenants sustain self-sufficiency
  • Facilitating and supervising monthly calendar activities, and developing and managing a calendar and articles for the monthly community newsletter
  • Building and maintaining positive working relationships with service teams, clinical teams, property managers, community partners, and volunteers
  • Maintaining organization of physical space and administrative paperwork and assisting residents in using the on-site computer lab
  • Outreaching to the community through automated calls, flyers, and door-to-door visits, and referring residents to appropriate agencies and providing support for follow-through
  • Collecting and reporting data regarding resident and volunteer programs, providing a safe and nurturing environment for all residents, and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum for residents of various ages and abilities in the areas of Health and Wellness, Art and Crafts, Multiculturalism, Service Learning, Technology, and Performing Arts
  • Other: Participates in agency and community meetings as directed by supervisor, drives personal vehicle in and around Los Angeles County and drives agency vehicles periodically, performs additional tasks, projects, and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor

Requirements

  • Demonstrated proficiency in working with diverse, vulnerable, and high-need populations, including individuals from marginalized communities who may have mental illness, concurrent disorders, a history of homelessness, and people with special needs
  • Proven experience in conducting community and individual needs assessments through a lens of equity and inclusivity, and in planning, initiating, and managing projects that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI)
  • Experience in coordinating services with teams of stakeholders, including residents, through a DEI perspective and building partnerships with diverse organizations and community groups
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and leadership abilities, with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, and experience with working with multilingual and multicultural communities is a plus
  • HMIS and CHAMP experience highly desired
