ENGR SR COMPUTATIONAL LINGUIST

About the role

Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve grammars, parsers, and terminologies for clinical Natural Language Understanding (NLU) systems.
• Extract, manipulate, and analyze textual data and annotations using Python and batch scripts.
• Determine solutions and priorities for NLU issues and enhancement requests.
• Implement and test solutions in collaboration with clinical, technical, and business teams.
• Be available for on-call duties.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science, Linguistics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Three (3) years of experience in Computational Linguistics, or a combination of ten (10) years of experience in software development.
• Two (2) years of professional experience with grammars and parsing, corpus analysis.
• Two (2) years of professional experience with data annotation or medical coding and documentation.
• Experience with regular expressions.
• Four (4) years of experience in software development, or a combination of experience in course work and internships.
• Master’s degree in a Linguistics or related field with an emphasis on computational linguistics, corpus analysis, syntax/morphology, or related.
• Experience with Python.
• Proficiency with regular expressions.
• Experience handling/transforming different formats including HTML, XML, JSON.
• Experience with GitHub (merge/resolve conflicts).
• Experience with Java.
• Good analytical and troubleshooting skills.

Qualifications

Pay

The expected compensation range for this position is $106,000 - $145,750, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible.
