Engr II - Process

Entry-level engineering role providing on-the-job training in various phases of engineering through specific assignments under close supervision. Routine tasks build experience and familiarization with company staff, methods, practices, and programs. Work is reviewed for accuracy, adequacy, and conformance with prescribed procedures.

About the role

The Process Engineer II aids the Engineer Supervisor in monitoring unit operations. Responsibilities include small project design to increase productivity and efficiency of the Nitrogen Plant, assistance to Project Engineering and outside consultants for efficiency and expansion, and contributing to planning and strategies for process improvements and optimization.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for plant operations.
• Daily monitoring and troubleshooting of all areas, process optimization, design, and development of capital projects.
• Work in a team environment with operators and engineers to maintain and troubleshoot problems, and propose applications for process units.
• Work directly with supervisors and operators on small project scopes to receive appropriate design and sizing of equipment.
• Provide support for process catalysts and chemicals bidding; contact vendors for information and provide vendors with appropriate details.
• Assist in planning unit shutdowns and startups.
• Administer plant performance test runs as needed; provide operational data or drawings to vendors or maintenance.
• Track performance data using spreadsheets or provide information to vendors.
• Provide information to Project Engineering for expansion purposes; collect lab or operational data for Project Engineering or outside vendors.
• Work with computer personnel on TDC/APC control systems to improve monitoring.
• Research and monitor upcoming technology changes to improve future strategies within the nitrogen plant.
• Provide after-hours and turnaround support as needed for maintenance and operations.
• Keep supervisor advised of progress via oral and written reports.
• Work near potentially volatile and combustible materials and chemicals.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Petroleum Engineering required; Chemical Engineering preferred.
• 4+ years of relevant work experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of economic principles, project management, and customer service.
• Proficiency in MS Office software packages, including Excel.
• Desire to work in a manufacturing environment and address mechanical issues.
• Familiarity with Process Modeling Software preferred.
• Demonstrated competencies in priority setting and organizational agility.
• Ability to develop peer relations, participate as a team member, and lead others.
• Strong analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills for increasingly complex problems.
• Fluent in English (oral and written).
• Ability to adjust schedule to meet business needs.
• Eligibility to work in the United States (Company will not sponsor immigration or work visas).
