Requirements
- Appropriate New York State Certification in English (Adolescent - Grades 7-12)
- Fingerprinting clearance
- Valid teacher certificate (see NYS Certification Details for more information)
- Initial or Professional certification in the specified subject area
Responsibilities
- Plan and implement a career and technical program of instruction that integrates academics into the curriculum
- Collaborate with other instructors to deliver quality instruction
- Utilize current equipment, supplies, and materials relevant to the field
- Provide diverse instructional modalities to meet varied educational needs of students
- Monitor student progress, attendance, and competencies
- Instruct students in safety precautions and the safe operation of tools, machinery, and equipment
- Establish and maintain standards of conduct that foster a positive and productive learning environment
- Manage control, storage, maintenance, and use of materials and property to prevent loss or abuse
- Maintain regular contact with advisory committee representatives
- Consult with guidance counselors and administration on program and student issues
- Encourage students to pursue education beyond the BOCES program
- Organize enrichment activities such as shadowing programs and field trips
- Order necessary materials and supplies for instruction
- Stay current in the field through professional associations, workshops, publications, courses, and outreach to the business community
Pay
Regionally competitive salary starting at $67,765.00, commensurate with experience and training. Full benefits package (see the Ulster BOCES Teachers' Organization contract for details).
Schedule
10-month schedule, September through June
Monday through Friday, 8:10 a.m. – 2:05 p.m.
