English Language Development (ELD) Teacher
About the role
The ELD Teacher at Mariposa Elementary School will support students who are learning English as a second language. This position involves teaching English language skills and cultural awareness.
Responsibilities
- Teach English language skills to students who are learning English as a second language
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials that align with district curriculum standards
- Assess student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
- Collaborate with other teachers, special education teachers, and parents to provide a comprehensive educational program
- Participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge
Requirements
- Valid California Teaching Credential (CTC) with an endorsement in English Learner Development (ELD)
- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (or another target language if applicable)
- Experience working with English learners and knowledge of Second Language Acquisition (SLA)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Education or related field
- At least two years of teaching experience in a secondary or elementary classroom
- Knowledge of differentiated instruction and culturally responsive teaching practices

- Proficiency in technology tools for teaching and learning

Pay
- Salary schedule for fully credentialed staff: $60,000 - $126,000/annually
- Candidates must be internal employees to be placed on Column 5; for external candidates, Column 4, Step 11 is the maximum incoming placement
Schedule
- Length of work year: 10 months/year, 186 days/year, 5 days/week, Professional Work Day
For the 2026-27 school year, various opportunities for additional pay include:
- $5,000 - $14,000 annual stipends for hard-to-staff Special Education positions
- $2,000 annual stipends for the hard-to-staff positions of counselor, social worker, and teacher librarian
- $3,000 annual stipend for advanced degrees
- $1,000 - $4,500 annual stipends for various extra-curricular activities
- $1,500 - $6,000 annual stipends for various "leadership" roles
Candidates must carry one of the following CTC documents/authorizations in order to be considered for this position: CLAD, BCLAD, ELA1, or a credential in World Languages.
