Description
The English Instructor is a full-time, 9-month salaried position responsible for teaching English courses. These responsibilities involve developing and implementing course syllabi, achieving student learning outcomes, evaluating student performance, record-keeping, and related activities. Related activities include, but are not limited to, advising, serving on various committees, participating in recruiting and retention efforts, and participating in professional activities and organizations.
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in English or a Master’s degree and 18 graduate hours in English
- Community College teaching experience in English preferred
- Demonstrated experience teaching online
- Proficiency in using learning management systems (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard) and other educational technologies
- Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills required

District Director of Humanities Instruction
Contract Term
Nine (9) months
Hours
8:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. (Monday-Friday)
Duties And Responsibilities
- Teach English courses, primarily Intermediate English, English Composition I, and English Composition II
- Prepare, administer, and grade essays, tests, other assignments, and/or program assessment data
- Maintain a record of student attendance as required by the Mississippi Community College Board
- Submit grades, attendance, and outcomes according to the academic calendar
- Manage timely engagement, grading, and communication
- Participate in departmental meetings and committee assignments
- Complete 15 hours of professional development each year
- Able to establish effective working relationships with college administration, faculty, staff, and students
- Able to adhere to school policy as set in the Policy and Procedures Manual
- Perform other duties as assigned
