About the role

The Engineering Test Technician position provides direct technical support to the engineering team. This role is involved in setting up, performing, and collecting data from engineering tests, in order to document results that aid in developmental design decisions. Along with these responsibilities, the role is responsible for the assembly of engineering test fixtures to promote efficiency and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to the engineering team during the design and manufacturing process.
  • Provide fabrication/assembly support for engineering test fixtures, setups, prototype builds.
  • Support in the design of test fixtures and assembly.
  • Set up & perform tests, collect data, and document performance, reports results out to engineering.
  • Assist in implementing improvements in production, efficiency, and quality.
  • Provide documentation and process support.
  • Conduct process evaluations and identify process improvement opportunities, communicating those opportunities to the appropriate teams.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing and technical problems to identify root causes.
  • Calibrate equipment.
  • Perform work in a safe manner and in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Engineering or related discipline or related technical certification is highly preferred.
  • Internship or other hands-on manufacturing experience preferred.
  • One year experience as an Engineering Technician in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Proficiency in standard power tools: chop saw, jig saw, drill press, dremel, sander, etc.
  • Experience create wiring harnesses, high voltage/low voltage cable - crimping/cutting cable tools.
  • Experience in using Microsoft apps such as excel, word, PowerPoint.
  • Experience or ability to use electrical measuring equipment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Skills

  • Technical skills in engineering and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in data collection and reporting.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical and mechanical principles.
