About the role
This position will be filled at either Engineer Technologist 1 or Engineer Technologist 2, depending on the skills of the selected candidate(s).
Additional job responsibilities, outlined below, will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.
Responsibilities
- Ensure that the technical aspects of construction and maintenance projects are executed in full conformance with the Approved Project Documents by monitoring facility maintenance and construction activities.
- Provide input during scoping, design, execution, and project closeout to ensure baseline documents are accurate, design documents are adhered to, and as-built configurations are verified.
- Expedite project execution by identifying issues, coordinating technical solutions, and providing timely guidance to the constructor through approved procedures.
Requirements
- Demonstrated knowledge of basic construction engineering principles.
- Aptitude in reading and understanding engineering design documents, drawings, and specifications to ensure their completeness and constructability.
- Ability to effectively communicate engineering solutions both verbally and in writing for management, customers, peers, and craft personnel.
- Aptitude for conducting field verifications of construction work to oversee, facilitate, and enforce compliance with drawings, specifications, national codes and standards.
- Aptitude in collaborative problem solving to resolve nuclear facility and infrastructure engineering issues in the field as the liaison between design engineers and the constructor.
Qualifications
- Minimum Job Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology, Science, Math or related degree from an accredited institution and 2 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
- Additional Job Requirements for Engineer Technologist 2: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology, Science, Math or related degree from an accredited institution and 5 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of construction engineering principles.
- Demonstrated expertise in reading and understanding engineering design documents, drawings, and specifications to ensure their completeness and constructability.
- Demonstrated experience interpreting construction industry specifications, construction means and methods, and national construction codes and standards.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate engineering solutions both verbally and in writing for management, customers, peers, and craft personnel.
- Demonstrated proficiency in conducting field verifications of construction work to oversee, facilitate, and enforce compliance with drawings, specifications, national codes and standards.
- Demonstrated proficiency in collaborative problem solving to resolve nuclear facility engineering issues in the field as the liaison between design engineers and the constructor.

Pay
- Engineer Technologist 1 Salary Range: $87,800 - $143,000
- Engineer Technologist 2 Salary Range: $96,600 - $158,000
Schedule
- This position may require 24/7 coverage, which will involve working a shift/weekend schedule.
- Employees may be eligible for shift differential pay when assigned by their manager.
- Schedules will be discussed during the interview process.
- Position Commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
