Engineering Technician SMT tooling

About the Role

This is an important hands-on role for an Engineering Technician who enjoys designing, analyzing, building, and testing tools for a production floor. The ideal candidate understands SMT terminology and is knowledgeable about electronic manufacturing. We focus on new, innovative products that enable the lighting industry to create amazing architectural fixtures.

Responsibilities

• Execute a sequence of tooling and automation projects using mechanical and electronic tools
• Receive training to run, program, and maintain SMT equipment (paste printer, pick and place, AOI, reflow, conveyors)
• Set up, program, troubleshoot, and repair SMT equipment after training
• Daily interaction with engineering, production supervision, and production personnel during projects
• Operate and maintain a variety of production equipment while creating improvements to production lines
• Complete tasks and achieve goals with minimal supervision
• Recommend future automation systems and participate in growth planning
• Install equipment and assist with mechanical tooling/fixtures for production use

Requirements

• Mechanical tool and component fabrication experience
• Experience testing and maintaining records
• Proficiency with Windows-based computers
• Knowledge of ESD procedures
• Problem-solving ability
• Experience with mechanical tooling/fixtures for production use
• Electronic component recognition
• Simple electronic testing (DVM, etc.)
• Basic MS Word and Excel skills
• Experience using parts database (BOM) software
