Engineering Technician, Self-Driving

What You'll Do

• Execute Tesla test procedures in the areas of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, Vehicle Dynamics, and Range under the leadership of test engineers
• Prepare vehicles for testing, including instrumentation installation, part changes, and vehicle diagnostics
• Design and build new instrumentation or test equipment as needed
• Lead on & off-site test trips, including management and support of other technicians and operators in test vehicle setup and test execution
• Work with internal and external test labs and proving grounds to direct testing activities
• Mentor less-experienced technicians and operators to develop their skills and knowledge
• Document results of testing and communicate issues found to the lead test engineer

What You'll Bring

• 2-year Automotive degree or equivalent technical credentials
• In-depth knowledge of modern vehicle systems and how they operate
• Some exposure to vehicle testing, specifically related to Vehicle Dynamics, Chassis Dynos or Autonomous Vehicles, is preferred
• Some fabrication skills preferred
• Excellent written and spoken English
• Comfortable driving prototype vehicles at (or over) their limit on closed courses
