Eaton’s IS VEH VGNA division is seeking an Engineering Technician - Heat Treat to join our Kings Mountain team.

Pay

The range for this position is $30.12 starting - $36.38 at 12 months per hour with scheduled pay increases at 6 months and 1 year of service. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Schedule

The core hours are Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM. Able to flex to different shifts as needed to support operations.

About the role

The primary function is to assist engineers and metallurgists in the implementation of a variety of Heat Treat projects culminating in successful results.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, improve, and maintain processes, including:
    • Assisting maintenance in troubleshooting equipment breakdowns
    • Analysis of root cause and failure analysis
    • Scrap reduction
    • Part Processing (Implement Engineering Change Notices and Process Change Requests)
    • Heat Treat process improvements
  • Create and revise process documentation
  • Support plant Metallurgist to learn processes for cutting and analyzing parts to become additional support for metallurgical needs
  • Participate in and implement programs/projects that support the business plan of plant management
  • Active member of cross-functional teams to meet departmental goals and objectives
  • Maintain a constant search for identifiable and measurable cost reductions through scrap analysis and technology applications
  • Participate in capital planning, implement equipment, complete documentation, and complete machine runoffs
  • Participate in Lean activities
  • Assist in new product launch
  • Assist in meeting all plant Environmental Health and Safety objectives
  • Assist in technical training

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years minimum of Heat Treat Experience
  • Willing to work any shift as required to support operations, however primary shift will be 2nd shift

Qualifications

Preferred Competencies:

  • Bachelor/associate degree
  • Broad manufacturing knowledge including lean principles
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Efficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Oracle
  • Knowledge of lean tools
  • Blueprint interpretation skills
  • Gauging experience

Additional Information

Eaton announced, on January 26, 2026, the intent to separate its Mobility Group (including both the Vehicle and eMobility segments) into an independent, publicly traded company. We expect to complete the separation by the end of the first quarter of 2027. The compensation and benefits that will initially be offered for this position are based on Eaton's plans, programs, and practices.
