Engineering Technician (Electrical Focus/Cross-Trained Tradesperson)

Position Summary:Mary Baldwin University (MBU) is seeking a licensed, skilled, and dependable Facilities Electrician to support campus-wide operations. This role is responsible for electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair across academic, residential, and administrative buildings. In addition to electrical expertise, this position plays a key role in supporting a cross-functional maintenance team, assisting with basic plumbing, HVAC systems, and general facilities operations as needed. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Inform and advise the Facilities Director on any electrical issues impacting campus operationsInstall, maintain, and repair electrical systems, including lighting, panels, circuits, and controlsDiagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues across campus facilitiesEstablish and perform preventative maintenance on electrical systems and equipmentEnsure all work complies with applicable codes, safety standards, and university policiesSupport emergency response for electrical outages or failuresAssist with basic plumbing repairs (fixtures, leaks, clogs, minor pipe work)Support HVAC troubleshooting and maintenance (filters, belts, basic diagnostics)Collaborate with other trades to complete work orders efficientlyContribute to preventative maintenance efforts across all systemsRespond to work orders and service requests in a timely and professional manner Maintain accurate records of work performed Support a culture of customer service, safety, and teamworkAssist during campus events, weather response, or urgent operational needs Minimum qualifications 3+ years of experience in electrical maintenance constructionWorking knowledge of electrical codes and safety practices Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical diagramsValid driver’s license Preferred Qualifications Experience in plumbing and/or HVAC systemsExperience in commercial, industrial, or campus environmentsEPA certification (for HVAC support)Experience with order systems or CMMS platformsAbility to work independently across trades or collaborate in a team environment To Apply:Interested applicants may submit a resume to Hannah Gazmen, Director of Facilities, at hcgazmen@marybaldwin.edu.
