About the role

Join our team in Lansing, NY as an Engineering Technician, working closely with engineers and senior metallurgists to deliver high-quality, timely results for clients in aerospace, medical, automotive, and energy industries. This hands-on role involves metallurgical testing, data collection, and technical support for evaluations including failure analysis and material characterization.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct high-quality metallurgical testing evaluations using a variety of techniques.
  • Coordinate input from other departments to meet testing and IMR report requirements.
  • Write accurate and timely metallurgical evaluation reports.
  • Communicate results, answer questions, and provide service to maintain positive customer relationships.
  • Perform all work in accordance with safe and proper procedures.
  • Interface with customers to ensure high satisfaction, including conducting tours, visits, and audits.
  • Maintain and exhibit a high level of metallurgical skills and knowledge of material science.
  • Stay abreast of new developments in the field and serve as a technical resource to the lab.
  • Maintain professional visibility through involvement in professional societies and publication in technical journals.
  • Assist in writing procedures, training less experienced employees, and maintaining lab equipment and appearance.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy, or related field preferred; relevant on-the-job training and equivalent experience will be considered.
  • 2+ years of experience in a materials testing or engineering lab environment.
  • Familiarity with metallurgical testing techniques and equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic data entry systems.
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures and work independently or in a team.

Pay

Hourly rate: $23–$26/hour. The range is a general guideline for a position based in NY and may vary based on candidate qualifications, experience, scope of the role, and market considerations.
