Engineering Team Lead, Civil - Structures

About The Role

Provide technical leadership and project oversight for MSE wall system solutions, including guiding and reviewing engineering designs, calculations, layouts, estimates, and quotes.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage project submittals, including design packages, stability analyses, internal/external checks, and shop drawing reviews.
• Support field and production needs, including design modifications, repair recommendations, and resolution of non-conformances.
• Provide design support, specifications, solution development, installation guidance, and project-cycle problem-solving for clients, customers, and Bridge Consultants.
• Build strong relationships with project managers, geotechnical engineers, civil engineers, contractors, operations teams, and QA/QC personnel.
• Communicate key metrics, recommendations, and technical insights to senior leadership.
• Contribute to process improvements, strategic initiatives, and the development of tools that enhance engineering efficiency and accuracy.
• Collaborate with plant managers, clerks, and project managers on project status updates, product specifications, testing, and improvements.
• Perform and oversee engineering analysis and design of MSE wall systems, including global stability, internal stability, external stability, and connection design.
• Consult with outside engineering firms as needed.
• Manage all outside client/customer projects through all stages: take-off, submittal, preconstruction meetings, field resolution, and installation support.
• Responsible for all communication and execution of lead times for prelims, quotes, and submittals.
• Review drawings and calculations for quality, accuracy, and compliance with engineering intent and applicable standards.
• Respond to field inquiries and coordinate timely, practical solutions that support both customer needs and business objectives.
• Manage State DOT approvals, QPL, APL, as required for Vist-A-Wall precast and wire walls.
• Maintain working knowledge of relevant codes and standards: AASHTO, FHWA MSE wall design guidance, ASCE 7, ACI, and other applicable specifications.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, with a focus on structures or geotechnical engineering.
• 5+ years of relevant experience, preferably in the MSE wall industry.
• Proven leadership experience.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with CRM or related project management databases.
• Excellent problem-solving and time-management skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data management tools.
• Ability to travel up to 10%.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Strong understanding of civil site plans and technical specifications.
