About the role
Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions, is seeking a Team Lead - HVAC Safety to join our Electrical team in Cortland, New York. This role involves supervising Engineers and Technicians, ensuring customer needs are met, and maintaining compliance with Intertek’s Quality Management System and policies. The position may require up to 25% travel.
Responsibilities
- Hire, train, develop, and manage the performance of team members.
- Drive daily projects to ensure deadlines and safety/quality protocols are met.
- Interface with clients to discuss current and upcoming projects.
- Partner with the Sales team to prepare quotes in a timely manner.
- Ensure efficiency and productivity within the assigned area.
- Oversee timely invoicing, P&L oversight, forecasting, and cost management.
- Resolve non-conformance issues with Sales and Project Management teams.
- Supervise quality requirements, equipment calibration, safety rules, and lab cleanliness standards.
- Promote new business opportunities and innovations.
- Oversee standardized tests, analyze test data, perform calculations, and resolve issues.
- Communicate schedules and forecasts to management to achieve revenue targets.
- Perform testing and evaluation on products to U.S., Canadian, and international safety standards; write reports and communicate with clients.
- Assist the Engineering Manager and Operations Manager as needed.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
- 4+ years of experience in an adjacent field, industry, or position.
- Must be willing to work on-site in Cortland, New York.
- Experience leading a team, either formally or informally.
- Project management experience or training.
- Ability to make technical decisions and engineering judgments independently.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Client-focused and quality-driven.
- Ability to resolve conflict effectively.
- Excellent organization, time management, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Willingness to travel at least 25% of the time.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record.
- Physical dexterity to perform clerical, technical, and operational functions, including bending, stooping, reaching, and mobility to travel to other work sites.
Preferred Qualifications
- 4+ years of directly related experience.
- 2+ years of leadership experience.
Pay
The base salary range for this position is $90,000 – $115,000, with individual compensation based on factors such as skill set, experience, and qualifications.
