About the role
The Engineering Support Specialist will provide work assignments to an engineering support team and/or technical documentation/training team, ensuring their contributions align with mission and organizational objectives. They will lead the team, manage their development, and oversee their performance.
Responsibilities
- Manages and directs personnel to develop training products and services, technical documentation for complex processes, and secure applications across various platforms and environments.
- Negotiates and establishes contractual arrangements with customers and management.
- Represents engineering, business, and/or technical writing project activities to stakeholders.
- Performs project management functions to ensure cost, schedule, and resource alignment with customer expectations.
- Coordinates training, technical documentation, and secure applications efforts, including scheduling and problem resolution.
- Implements business practices, metrics, and procedures to ensure quality of products and services.
- Develops and implements staffing plans, budget proposals, and equipment requirements based on anticipated workloads.
- Communicates with other program, project, and technical management regarding project status, issues, concerns, and opportunities.
- Encourages and facilitates teamwork among the team and promotes customer service.
- Ensures adequate support services are provided by other organizations as needed.
- Works with key leaders to develop and implement strategic objectives of the business.
- Monitors project costs, schedule, issues, and deliverables to ensure quality, delivery, and cost objectives are met.
- Establishes and maintains customer focus to ensure expectations are met or exceeded.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Communications, Business, Engineering, Technology, or Science
- 7+ years of relevant experience
- US Citizenship
- Ability to work on-site as directed by management and as determined by the needs of the business
- Able to work regular and reliable attendance
- Able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations)
Qualifications
- Experience leading teams
- Leadership skills in managing complex projects
- Ability to work well with external customers and a diverse technical staff
- Experience with business activity systems such as ERP, Solumina, Feith, PeopleSoft and others
Skills
- Methodologies related to training and technical communications
- Classroom or field training
- Engineering or operational activities
