Example of Duties
- Oversight of a design team in the design and preparation of plans and construction contract documents for municipal street, drainage, site, and water quality projects.
- Utilization of computer-aided design, drafting software applications, and recognized design criteria.
- Scoping, planning, design, and preparation of construction documents, including drawings, specifications, bid proposals, and detailed estimates of probable construction costs.
- Receiving project assignments from the Engineering Manager and distributing them within the design team.
- Development of project schedules and management of staff schedules and workloads to ensure tasks are completed on schedule.
- Review of plans, permits, and public hearing information concerning road, drainage, and water quality concerns.
- Preparation of appropriate responses and investigation and response to road and drainage-related inquiries and complaints.
Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field and five (5) years of progressively responsible engineering experience.
- A Master’s degree in Engineering may substitute for the experience on a year for year basis.
- Military Service Interview Preference: Veterans who wish to be considered for interview preference must attach a copy of their DD Form 214, DD Form 256, NGB Form 22, or a letter from the US Department of Veterans Affairs, recognizing the person as a veteran.
