Engineering Specialist IV
About the role
The Engineering Specialist IV position is responsible for overseeing the implementation and optimization of logistics and material handling processes within the organization. This role requires a deep understanding of industrial engineering principles and practical experience in managing complex operations.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the development and execution of logistics strategies to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.
- Manage and optimize material handling systems to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and implement improvements in supply chain operations.
- Develop and maintain documentation related to material handling and logistics processes.
- Perform cost justification analyses to support strategic initiatives and decision-making.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced team members.
Requirements
- Minimum of 6 years of industrial or relevant engineering/district staff experience required.
- 4 years combined Sort and P&D Manager experience required.
- Software skills, including use of Microsoft Office software and web-based applications.
- Working knowledge of Business Objects.
- Verbal and written communication skills necessary to explain complex and/or confidential information.
- Presentation skills necessary to facilitate training and/or deliver informational sessions to groups and/or individuals.
- Time management and organizational skills necessary to manage multiple projects, appropriately prioritize workload, plan for resources to meet deadlines and goals, and respond to day-to-day functional needs.
- Ability to anticipate and identify problems and use sound judgment and fact-based analysis to develop effective and efficient solutions.
- Ability to inspire a shared vision and empower and motivate a team.
- Ability to travel up to 75%.
Qualifications
- Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Transportation, Logistics, Science, Technology, Engineering, Math required. Or, an equivalency of four (4) additional years’ experience in the areas below + minimum required experience with a high school diploma/GED or unrelated Bachelor’s degree. Experience in the following areas include: - The transportation industry in a relevant operations management role OR - Industrial Engineering experience in any field.
