Engineering Section Manager

General Description

The purpose of this classification is to perform advanced professional engineering, manage capital construction projects and the daily operations of an engineering section in the divisions of Water Quality.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • Six years of related experience
  • Additional years of related education may substitute for years of experience

Essential Functions

  • Manages and advises staff
  • Manages section budget
  • Reviews and approves plans and permit applications for compliance with various ordinances, regulations, and design standards
  • Attends associated meetings, hearings, and conferences representing the divisions
  • Aids in preparation of funding and budget for projects, programs, and activities
  • Writes and reviews policies, procedures, technical documents, project scopes and contract modifications
  • Makes presentations and prepares reports for internal and external audiences
  • Meets with other engineers, surveyors, contractors, developers, regulators and attorneys to develop plans for infrastructure and monitors progress
  • Addresses inquiries and concerns expressed by residents, council, and other organizations or LFUCG divisions
  • Performs related work as assigned

Special Requirements

  • All certifications and licenses must be maintained as a condition of employment
  • Professional Engineer License issued by the State of Kentucky; those with an equivalent license issued by another state must obtain licensure in the State of Kentucky within the six month probationary period
