Laciny Bros., Inc., a family-owned custom fabrication company, is seeking a full-time Purchasing Manager to join our team. Responsibilities
- Cook up the placement of purchase orders and/or delivery of materials, working in a team environment with Design Engineers, Controls Engineers, Operations, Finance, and other departments for maximum operational effectiveness
- Interface with Engineering, Operations, Management, etc. on a daily basis to communicate job status and understand needs and priorities
- Alert the team to deviations from established plans and champion issue resolution
- Establishes, develops and maintains positive business, customer, vendor, and contractor/technician relationships
- Manages supplier relations and negotiates prices where applicable
- Researches and evaluates procurement opportunities and prospective suppliers using industry expertise and relationships
- Ensures all procured items meet required quality standards and specifications
- Works with all project managers to ensure necessary raw materials are being procured in timely and cost-effective manner
- Stays informed on new suppliers, materials, manufacturing methods, supply chain management practices, strategic sourcing methodology and techniques
- Develops and employs effective negotiations techniques, including market knowledge, to secure the best value possible on new materials and components
- Assists with some administrative tasks, including controlling and updating Job Management Software, help with AR/AP and other various office tasks
- Assigns general ledger codes and enter accounts payable, check that all AP are accurately entered against correct ledger codes
Skill Requirements
- An ideal candidate would have experience with, knowledge of, and/or be skilled in the following:
- Organizational Skills and the ability to switch quickly from one task to another
- A firm understanding of non-corporate, family business culture
- Familiarity with metal fabrication/manufacturing/automation
- Experience in areas of sourcing, manufacturing, engineering, or supply chain
- The ability to develop and maintain vendor relationships
- Understanding of common materials & coatings used for component design
- Knowledge of common fabrication processes used to produce parts
- Highly developed interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
- Strong sense of ambition, self-motivation and self-discipline
- Strong attention to detail in a highly nuanced and niche industry
- Strong critical thinking and negotiating skills
- Energetic, professional and positive demeanor, and ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experienced in a collaborative, fast paced, team environment, with the ability to manage multiple projects at a time
- Technology/Network savvy
- Ability to research and recognize market trends
- Has familiarity with JobBoss ERP management database
- Assist in maintaining the businesses’ reputation within the community through positive networking and executing tasks through high ethics
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (Minimum)
- Experience in Manufacturing and/or Industrial applications is preferred
- 5+ years’ work experience preferred
