Job Title: Engineering Project Manager – Individual ContributorJob Description This role leads and coordinates multiple engineering projects from planning through execution in a highly regulated environment. You will manage project scope, schedule, budget, resources, and external partners to ensure successful delivery of technical solutions. Operating as an individual contributor, you apply professional judgment and specialized engineering expertise to drive cross-functional teams, resolve issues, and maintain compliance with industry and quality standards while working independently with minimal supervision. Responsibilities Lead multiple engineering projects simultaneously, ensuring that milestones, timelines, and deliverables are achieved.Assist in the management of multiple engineering projects by prioritizing tasks and assigning team members so that resources are used effectively and project deadlines are met.Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, schedule, budget, and resource allocation, to align with business objectives.Monitor project progress and performance against the project plan, tracking key metrics and deliverables.Identify project risks and issues, and implement effective solutions and mitigation strategies to minimize delays and disruptions.Evaluate and authorize changes that may significantly impact project scope, budget, timelines, or resources, ensuring alignment with business priorities.Collaborate closely with engineering, quality, manufacturing, operations, suppliers, and other stakeholders to drive successful project outcomes.Manage ongoing relationships with external vendors, contractors, and service providers to ensure high-quality performance and deliverables.Ensure compliance with applicable industry regulations, quality requirements, and internal standards throughout the project lifecycle.Resolve technical and operational issues as they arise while maintaining project schedules and objectives.Track and report project performance, communicate status updates, and provide clear recommendations and insights to leadership.Apply professional knowledge of mechanical, biomedical, materials science, or related engineering disciplines to evaluate data and make informed decisions.Use attention to detail and analytical skills to make evaluative judgments based on factual information and project data.Work independently with minimal supervision, using professional expertise and judgment to manage projects and resolve complex issues. Essential Skills Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical field.4+ years of engineering project management experience.Experience working in medical device, manufacturing, life sciences, biotechnology, aerospace, or another highly regulated industry.Strong understanding of project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and risk management.Demonstrated ability to lead engineering projects from planning through execution.Proven experience managing project scope, schedule, budget, resources, and external partners.Ability to work independently as an individual contributor, applying professional judgment with minimal supervision.Strong analytical skills and attention to detail in evaluating data and making decisions.Effective communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams and providing clear status updates to leadership.Experience managing relationships with external vendors, contractors, and service providers. Additional Skills & Qualifications PMP (Project Management Professional) certification preferred.Project management background with demonstrated experience in scope management.Experience in medical device or similarly regulated industries for 4+ years.Strong leadership and organizational skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.Comfort working with cross-functional teams in a regulated environment.Professional mastery of a specialized engineering discipline gained through substantial applicable work experience.Ability to apply principles and concepts of a technical discipline to resolve issues as they arise. Work Environment The role operates in a professional engineering and project-driven environment within a highly regulated industry such as medical devices, manufacturing, life sciences, biotechnology, or aerospace. You will collaborate regularly with engineering, quality, manufacturing, operations, suppliers, and external contractors, using structured project management processes and tools to plan, track, and report progress. The position emphasizes independent work with minimal supervision, requiring consistent attention to detail, adherence to regulatory and quality standards, and effective coordination across multiple projects and stakeholders. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Salt Lake City, UT. Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
