Engineering Manager - UI Platform
We are the UI Platform team at Databricks, responsible for enabling all frontend developers to build amazing features. We support hundreds of developers weekly, ensuring they can use AI tooling, quickly ship features to production, and have best-in-class monitoring and observability. We own all aspects of the dev loop using industry-standard technology like Typescript, React, GraphQL, yarn, and node.
About the role
We're seeking a dedicated Engineering Leader for our Developer Experience team. This team manages the entire lifecycle of a feature—from dev loop to submission, deployment, and monitoring—ensuring smooth delivery of code from development to production. You will report directly to the Senior Manager of Engineering.
Responsibilities
- Lead a talented engineering team in UI Platform focused on improving frontend developer experience.
- Oversee sustained recruitment of top-tier talent and develop team members.
- Build processes to implement product vision and strategy aligned with organizational goals.
- Develop software that is high-quality and easy to operate.
- Manage technical debt, including long-term technical architecture decisions, while balancing the product roadmap.
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in web frontend development, with a strong preference for React-based applications.
- 2+ years leading and managing a high-performing engineering team.
- Passion for infrastructure, tooling, developer productivity, or performance optimization.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and develop engineering talent at various levels.
- Experience driving technical initiatives that improve team efficiency and code quality.
- Strong track record of setting and achieving ambitious team goals aligned with company objectives.
- Experience attracting, hiring, and retaining top engineering talent.
- Experience managing distributed teams across multiple locations.
- Adaptability and resilience in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving tech environment.
Pay
Databricks is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The local pay range for this role is $182,400—$247,000 USD. Actual compensation is based on factors such as skills, experience, certifications, and location. The total compensation package may also include annual performance bonus, equity, and benefits.
