About the role
We are seeking a proactive Engineering Manager to lead all engineering activities for a growing manufacturing company operating in battery, extrusion, coating, polymer processing, specialty film, or other high precision continuous process industries. This role drives process innovation, equipment design, and team development to ensure operational excellence, safety, and scalability, while aligning execution with the company's mission and growth strategy.
Responsibilities
- Builds, mentors, and manages a high performing engineering team responsible for process functions, while leading capital planning, Capex budgeting, and operating expense management for Engineering and Maintenance.
- Collaborates with Corporate Engineering to implement engineering standards and strategies, and drives a culture of safety, continuous improvement, accountability, teamwork, and integrity.
- Develops role based expectations, succession plans, and talent development paths, and leads projects focused on process optimization, automation, and continuous improvement using Lean and Six Sigma principles.
- Defines and maintains equipment specifications, standards, and vendor performance expectations, ensuring process scalability from prototype to full production.
- Oversees troubleshooting and root cause analysis for quality, productivity, and safety issues, and leads initiatives for scrap reduction, OEE improvement, cost reduction, and uptime reliability.
- Supports New Product Introduction (NPI) and engineering change processes to ensure manufacturability and production readiness, implements and manages the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), and ensures preventive and predictive maintenance strategies are fully deployed.
- Collaborates with Quality and Sales on customer requirements and applications, ensures adherence to ISO and other applicable quality management standards, and provides data driven updates on project status, engineering metrics, and maintenance performance.
Requirements
- BS degree in engineering or a related technical discipline
- 10+ years of relevant engineering experience
- CAPEX project management expertise
- Demonstrated ability to develop technical talent and lead multidisciplinary teams
- Expertise in Continuous Improvement, Lean, and Six Sigma
- Strong analytical mindset with demonstrated ability to diagnose complex process issues
- Expertise in root cause analysis, statistical problem solving, and structured decision making
- Effective communicator able to tailor messages to technical and non-technical audiences, including presenting technical data and project status to internal stakeholders and customers
- Ability to travel to other plant locations and vendors as needed
Qualifications
- Advanced engineering degree
- Experience in battery, extrusion, coating, polymer processing, specialty film, or other high precision continuous process industries
Benefits
$150,000 to $160,000 base salary per year
