Engineering Manager, Machine Learning Platform

For our client, a leader in the Finance & Insurance space, we are seeking an Engineering Manager for the Machine Learning Platform team. This role leads work at the intersection of data, AI-enabled capabilities, and scalable technology delivery, collaborating with engineering, product, operations, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into practical solutions. The position offers the opportunity to influence architecture, execution quality, and long-term technology capabilities within a regulated financial services environment.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Responsibilities

• Define and execute the roadmap for ML training and serving alongside senior ICs and engineering leadership
• Lead, coach, and mentor a team of platform engineers, engaging in technical decisions and execution
• Ensure reliable delivery and operational health of the team's infrastructure, focusing on reliability and cost
• Evaluate and adopt modern ML infrastructure capabilities as the company evolves
• Collaborate across teams to ensure platform alignment with top ML initiatives
• Recruit and develop high-performing platform engineers

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in software or machine learning engineering, with 2+ years in management
• Experience in production ML or distributed systems infrastructure
• Solid understanding of ML data needs like training datasets and evaluation data
• Familiarity with modern machine learning workloads, including deep learning and transformer architectures
• Strong systems thinking with a capability to assess architectural trade-offs with senior engineers
• Proven track record of delivering impactful platforms or infrastructure for engineering teams
• History of recruiting and coaching engineers across various career stages

Pay

$204,000 – $264,000 annually
