Engineering Manager - Energy Efficiency & DSM
About the role
Resource Innovations is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Engineering Manager with a strong background in custom and energy management Demand-Side Management (DSM) program engineering. In this role, you will lead, mentor, and provide oversight of engineers to help customers reduce energy consumption and save money by identifying potential energy savings measures, quantifying and summarizing project economics, supporting project implementation, and verifying installation.

Responsibilities
- Support RI's utility programs under the direction of the Program Manager to achieve program energy savings goals.
- Produce high-quality deliverables (reports and spreadsheets) with limited QC review.
- Forge and maintain excellent relationships with clients.
- Deliver excellent customer service to commercial and industrial customers, utility clients, and program staff.
- Champion energy efficiency: identify barriers and propose solutions.
- Maintain quality of deliverables with limited QC review and promote continuous improvement.
- Manage technical aspects of project reviews and mentor reviewing engineers to improve their skills.
- Provide timely technical and program feedback, listen to customer needs, set expectations appropriately, and deliver on commitments.
- Maintain the highest level of quality control for deliverable products, demonstrating technical excellence, objectivity, and clarity while adhering to project schedules.
- Complete energy modeling, economic analysis, and/or simulation to quantify energy impacts of recommendations.
- Provide technical assistance to support energy efficiency project implementation, including calculations, scope development, implementation details, and impacts on operations.
- Mentor and train junior engineers on various energy efficiency projects and energy auditing.
- Write technical reports summarizing results from energy audits and/or retro-commissioning services to quantify savings amounts and incentive payments.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or similar field.
- A strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems and principles, including: HVAC and refrigeration, thermal and fluid systems, motors, lighting, and/or other commercial and industrial systems.
- 8+ years of experience within the DSM or building efficiency industry.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects while meeting deliverable deadlines and budgets.
- Excellent writing, interpersonal, presentation, and analytical skills.
- Ability to effectively distill and convey complex ideas into concise conversation/emails.
- Comfortable managing projects and workflows with variable levels of ambiguity.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office programs including Word and Excel.
- Must be able to travel locally up to approximately 20% of the time.
- Interest and passion in sustainability and/or making a meaningful impact on the environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in mechanical engineering or similar field.
- P.E. License, Certified Energy Manager (CEM), or other relevant certifications.

Pay
The compensation range for the base salary for this position is $110,000–$143,000. In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as the candidate's experience, education, and location.
