Engineering Manager, Data
Job Summary
TRM Labs is seeking an Engineering Manager, Data to lead the platforms powering TRM's intelligence data products. The role involves managing two sub-teams and driving end-to-end outcomes for intelligence delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the platform supporting 1+ petabyte of intelligence products, including batch processing and real-time API requirements
- Build the next-gen AI architecture for blockchain intelligence infrastructure
- Drive 10x improvements in the speed and efficiency of delivering new intelligence models and data products to customers
- Lead and hire for two sub-teams, focusing on data infrastructure and product delivery
- Set technical direction for production systems, making strategic bets on architecture, tooling, and platform investments
- Build platforms that enhance data scientists' workflow, enabling seamless and rapid delivery of intelligence data products
Requirements
- 8+ years of hands-on data/engineering experience with 4+ years of direct people management
- Experience owning production systems at scale, including customer-facing data products, APIs, or decisioning engines
- Strong Python and SQL skills, with experience in BigQuery, Airflow, and data lake architecture
- Active daily use of AI tools to accelerate development and challenge assumptions
- Good judgment in making technological bets and investments that shape TRM's platform
About The Team
The computational intelligence team builds the production data science capabilities that power TRM's intelligence products. This manager role oversees the Blockchain Intel Product Pod and Intel Platform sub-teams, a cohesive unit spanning platform infrastructure through product delivery.
Culture and Team Operating Rhythms
- Distributed, not distant: primarily US-based, operating across EST/PST timezones
- Async-first communication via Slack for day-to-day coordination; Notion and Jira for project tracking and documentation
- Regular cross-functional syncs with public sector GTM, threat intelligence, and product teams
Compensation
The estimated base salary range for this role is $230,000 - $250,000. TRM Labs also offers equity participation in its plans.
