Engineering manager, cloud infrastructure
About the role
The role involves leading the Cloud Infrastructure team at Watershed, a company focused on enterprise sustainability solutions. Watershed helps companies like Airbnb, Carlyle Group, FedEx, Visa, and Dr. Martens manage climate and ESG data, produce audit-ready metrics, and drive decarbonization efforts. The role requires a blend of technical, people, and product leadership skills.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Cloud Infrastructure team through phases of growth, including recruiting and adapting the team’s charter and vision.
- Partner closely with other functions in Engineering and cross-functional partners like Security and Finance to set direction and priorities.
- Own Watershed's Infrastructure team initially, and potentially expand scope to manage a sibling foundational team.
Requirements
- At least 1-4 years of direct engineering management experience.
- 6+ years of overall developer and management experience in total.
- A strong platform engineering background, building business-specific systems with thoughtful interfaces and smart abstractions.
- Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or a comparable cloud provider, and a typical cloud infrastructure feature set.
- B2B experience, especially in enterprise SaaS.
Qualifications
- A mix of scrappy startup and big company experience is a plus.
Skills
- Technical skills in cloud infrastructure, including containerized compute, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, multi-region database architecture, observability, reliability, and SLOs.
- Experience with cloud security.
