Engineering Manager
About the Role
The Farmer’s Dog is growing its engineering organization and seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a "pod" of engineers. In this role, you’ll balance delivering impactful projects, improving team cohesion, and supporting individual career growth. You’ll partner closely with Product Managers and Designers to shape your pod’s roadmap, ensure scalable systems, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. Our tech stack includes TypeScript (end-to-end), React, GraphQL, Postgres, AWS, Docker, and Temporal.
What We Stand For
- One Team: We align around customer problems, not departments, ensuring the right people with the right context collaborate to solve problems holistically.
- Skeptical and Adaptable: Ideas can come from anywhere, and we proactively seek input, change course when better solutions arise, and consider the customer journey in all decisions.
- Execute for Impact: We focus on being the best we can be, not on "best practices" or industry benchmarks, and prioritize customer retention and experience.
- Focused and Hypothesis-Driven: We work sequentially, validating hypotheses quickly, and adjust priorities based on new information without rigid timelines.

- Contribute to the evolution of our engineering organization by improving hiring, collaboration, and processes.
- Operate with urgency and intentionality, leveraging technology and AI to optimize workflows.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience (full stack and top-of-funnel experience is a plus).
- 3+ years of engineering management experience leading high-performing teams, including goal-setting and coaching.
- Experience delegating responsibilities, conducting 1:1s, managing performance, and providing clear feedback.
- Proven ability to architect scalable, high-availability systems.
- Customer-centric mentality with experience collaborating across product, design, and data teams.
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments as a proactive self-starter.
