Engineering Manager

About the role

GCX Healthcare Solutions has an opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineering Manager in our El Paso, TX location. The Manufacturing Engineering Manager is a hands‑on key contributor who leads the Manufacturing Engineering team to support site operations by providing continuous‑improvement strategies on existing and new product lines through New Product Development, New Product Implementation, and production‑readiness processes. Areas of focus include Maintenance, GCX Production System (GCXPS), process design and value stream, ergonomics, capacity, simulation tools, investment, cost analysis and performance.

Responsibilities

• Key member of the site’s Focus Factory and leadership team.
• Support activities of New Product Development (NPD) for products scheduled to transfer to the site.
• Lead and support transfers of new products and technologies into the site, including site launch and NPI processes for new product transfers and engineering changes.
• Review and support product cost analysis during launch and production‑readiness phases.
• Develop, maintain, and review project status and progress with site leadership, including GCX’s PMO.
• Design production layouts and process flow.
• Ensure the Manufacturing Engineering team reviews engineering project inputs, resolves gaps, and refines requirements to set appropriate project scopes.
• Lead site projects with cross‑functional departments such as engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, safety, and configuration management.
• Lead project scheduling, planning, tracking, and communication across the site organization.
• Conduct Gemba walks, observe, listen, and develop improvement/action plans.
• Establish best‑in‑class application of Lean or Six Sigma methodologies; facilitate development and implementation of manufacturing process upgrades for manufacturability, safety, efficiency, ergonomics, and automation.
• Contribute to developing and driving GCX’s Operational Excellence methodology and advise on manufacturing initiatives.
• Collaborate with value‑stream leaders on day‑to‑day improvement efforts.
• Conduct thorough studies of existing conditions and analyze changes needed to achieve site KPIs.
• Share best practices for manufacturing tools, equipment, processes, and lean usage.
• Work with design teams to ensure proposed designs are within process capabilities and manufacturability (DFM).
• Define tool and gauge requirements and ensure availability.
• Implement process validation.
• Develop positive relationships and collaborate with all functional managers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering or a related discipline.
• Green Belt or Black Belt certification preferred.
• 5+ years driving lean manufacturing and continuous‑improvement concepts using Value Stream Mapping, Kaizens, Six Sigma, and other CI tools.
• 5+ years of direct supervisory experience leading a team of manufacturing engineers, preferably in an ISO 13485 environment.
• 7+ years of manufacturing engineering and operations management experience.
• 5+ years of experience in project management, new product development, and new product introduction.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities; capacity to manage multiple complex situations daily.
• Experience with environmental health and safety inspections and compliance with government safety regulations and industry standards.
• Understanding of automation, tight‑tolerance machining, and assembly processes.
