Essential Duties
- Cook up and approve the annual and five-year capital plans.
- Keep the site’s strategic roadmap updated and maintained.
- Ensure timely and on-budget completion of site capital projects.
- Host quarterly reviews with plant leadership.
- Be the go-to guy for quick engineering fixes.
- Track and update site capital spending forecasts.
- Handle monthly fixed asset additions and retirements.
- Review AFCE requests for alignment with company strategy and policies.
- Evaluate and recommend modifications to new equipment designs.
- Present business cases for large capital projects to senior leadership.
- Support new product development and manufacturing with equipment/materials.
- Maintain and improve documentation standards for AutoCAD drawings and MOCs.
- Be the go-to tech expert for equipment and process issues.
- Participate in problem-solving sessions in mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation areas.
- Provide ongoing technical engineering support to the plant.
- Drive continuous improvement through capital project execution.
- Manage the department’s cost tracking for capital projects.
- Ensure plant drawings and P&IDs are up-to-date.
- Hire, train, develop, and evaluate site project engineers.
- Identify and implement development opportunities for direct reports.
- Train individuals in technical engineering skills, GAF project management methodology, leadership, communications, and business acumen.
- Manage the plant project Engineering Co-op Program.
- Bridge communication between the Project Engineering team and Front Line Operations.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the Site and the Corporate Project Engineering team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering. Mechanical Engineering preferred.
- 10+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Experience managing and leading teams directly.
- Proven track record of developing engineers.
- Experience in Project Management with a strong record of success.
- Thorough knowledge of Statistics, SPC, DOE, RCA, VPC, and Kepner-Tregoe Rational Process.
- Advanced skills in project planning, estimation, and engineering resource allocation.
- Intermediate skills in Autocad and ability to read detailed machine drawings.
- Excellent communication skills: written, verbal, and listening.
- Strong planning and organizational skills, able to manage multiple priorities.
- Demonstrated advanced proficiency in Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office.
- Intermediate financial/budgetary understanding, including project management budgetary understanding and capabilities.
- Ability to lead and direct the work.
