Engineering Intern - Summer 2027

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Engineering Intern provides support by assisting with all aspects of factory planning and engineering to ensure ongoing projects run smoothly.

Responsibilities

• Support the planning team with all aspects of production planning and engineering for the ongoing plant expansion project
• Process documentation
• Optimize daily processes with new ideas
• Assist where needed by the department or other areas
• Assist and lead meetings
• Support and optimize Mercedes-Benz production lines
• Data analysis and reporting
• Work on and support department projects with guidance from other engineers
• Support the team with project documentation
• Attend team meetings and track engineering performance KPIs
• Support and implement initiatives while maintaining high quality standards

Requirements

• Graduated within the past 12 months or currently working towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or other related fields
• Eager, driven, focused, and hard-working individuals ready to assist with a complex multi-million dollar project
• Willingness to learn and be taught skills from experienced members of the engineering team
• Self-motivated with an interest in adding value and making a difference within the organization

Skills

• Previous knowledge in engineering fields

Pay

Hourly pay rate of $20.00/hr for the internship program.

Schedule

This is an onsite position. The work schedule is designed to allow interns to focus on school and homework.

About the Role

This internship offers the opportunity to gain insight into factory planning and engineering processes. Interns will be exposed to all levels of the organization, helping build a competitive resume for the job market. The learning objective is to provide real-world experience on issues organizations face daily while offering competitive wages.

Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC (“MBV”) operates a plant in Ladson, South Carolina, producing Sprinter vans for the U.S. and Canadian markets under the Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner brands. The facility also reassembles midsize Mercedes-Benz Metris vans. The company invested $500 million in constructing a new Sprinter production plant and expanding assembly operations, creating up to 1,300 jobs by the end of the decade and generating at least 600 additional supplier jobs in the region.
