Engineering Intern - Summer 2027

About the role

BranchPattern is seeking intern applicants for the Summer of 2027. The internship program focuses on developing a high level of comfort with the basic principles of various engineering systems, primarily through calculations. Interns will gain experience with appropriate loads for a variety of building types, explore the breadth of roles performed by engineers in the A/E/C industry, and work alongside staff on the design of engineering systems for projects across multiple sectors. The position offers a collaborative team environment where interns assist engineers in delivering award‑winning projects.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering calculations.
• Produce computer‑aided drafting using Revit and AutoCAD.
• Conduct facility evaluations and engineering studies.
• Verify permitting and code requirements.
• Prepare construction documents for various engineering systems.
• Track RFIs, review shop drawings, and organize project information.
• Perform building simulations and analysis using specialized programs.
• Assist with equipment selection and systems design.
• Attend project meetings and site observations.

Requirements

• Pursuing a BS or MS in Architectural Engineering.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Completed at least two years of academic coursework.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Revit.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Interest in working in a collaborative team environment.
• Previous internships are a definite plus.
