Engineering Intern, Summer 2026
About the role
The successful candidate will gain exposure to real-life engineering challenges in the field and will have the opportunity to contribute to the implementation of West Fraser's reliability program. They will work closely with various departments including the Site Reliability Engineer, Region Electrical Engineer, Sawmill Superintendent, Maintenance Superintendent, Millwrights, Electricians, and vendors.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Site Reliability Engineer to drive out repeat failures
- Work with the Region Electrical Engineer to ensure electrical systems are reliable
- Support the Sawmill Superintendent in maintaining mill operations
- Assist the Maintenance Superintendent in ensuring equipment reliability
- Work with Millwrights and Electricians to resolve equipment issues
- Communicate effectively with different levels of staff
Requirements
- Graduate no later than December 2027 with a degree in Electrical Engineering
- GPA of 2.75 or higher overall
- Desire to perform hands-on work with equipment
- Able to perform a variety of tasks
- Able to communicate daily with different levels of roles
