Duties
- Collecting GPS data in the field for water system infrastructure.
- Using software equipment such as desktop and tablet.
- Reading maps and navigating through the City while walking or driving.
- Following standard safety guidelines.
- Interacting with the public in a professional manner.
- Aiding in the preparation of plans and maps as needed.
- Assisting with the collection, filing, updating, and retrieval of maps, drawings, and survey reports for use by professional engineers.
- Verifying data pertinent to civil engineering using ArcGIS and GPS data collection.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of: Office practices and procedures, including filing and the operation of standard office equipment; symbols and terminology used in public works, engineering, and drafting; functions, characteristics, and the proper use and care of engineering, drafting equipment; geometry, trigonometry, and engineering math.
- Skills in: Basic engineering drafting utilizing contemporary tools and techniques; engineering math; geometry.
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other persons.
Minimum Requirements
- Experience: None.
- Education: None.
- Knowledge of engineering, drafting, geometry, and/or trigonometry preferred.
Special Requirements
- Possession of a valid Class “C” California Driver’s License at the time of appointment.
- Must be at least 18 years of age at time of application.
