Engineering Inside Sales Tech - OEM

About the role
The primary duty of the Engineering Inside Sales Tech is to provide engineering print and documentation support to the sourcing and purchasing team from customer prints received for the parts we are going to provide. If necessary, coordinate reverse engineering projects with customers, OEM, and manufacturers in conjunction with the outside engineering sales team. Work internally with the OEM functional group to ensure our capability of providing the requested parts and communicate any differences with all involved.
Responsibilities
- Reviews customer “part to print” to ensure physical parts match engineering documentation and/or samples provided.
- Reconciles differences and obtains approval of markups and deviations in meetings with the outside sales engineer and customer.
- Engages with the OEM Sourcing team to review and coordinate customer prints against supplier capabilities.
- Reconciles differences and deviations between customer design prints, requirements, and supplier manufacturing capabilities as requested by sourcing.
- Assists the sourcing team in reconciling with customers to obtain approval on supplier prints.
- Reviews the customer's application against design prints, requirements, and specifications.
- Requests adjustments to information in MIR based on documented agreements with customers and approved supplier documentation.
- Actively participates in part review meetings with sourcing, purchasing, and QC.
- Works jointly with the AIS quality department on print readying and print reviews.
- Fosters the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure fulfillment of MSC's vision and unity of purpose.
- Participates in special projects and performs additional duties as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in business or related field or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of five years of experience in design or application engineering or technical experience with production fasteners and OEM items.
- Knowledge of fasteners and bolted joint design.
- Maintains a high level of confidentiality related to proprietary information of vendors and customers.
- Strong ability to apply engineering principles and practices to solve specific problems in a timely manner.
- Ability to document process flow and report improvements to processes or products.
- Understands process and product testing procedures including chemical, mechanical, and dimensional.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to deal professionally with customers, internal teams, and suppliers in a polite, efficient, and responsive manner.
- Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical users.
- Self-motivated, committed, and enthusiastic engineering/technical professional; must be able to work on own initiative and without constant supervision.
Other Requirements
- A valid driver's license may be required.
- Position requires up to 20% travel.
- Flexibility in traveling across North America as directed if required.

Pay
Compensation starting at $56,900 - $89,430 depending on candidate location and experience. The salary range is based on comparable roles in similar industries and the cost of labor in respective cities. Actual compensation is determined by the candidate's relevant experience, education requirements, and peer pay equity.
