About the role
This is a field based role in Virginia. We are looking for a talented individual to join our team as an Engineering Field Specialist supporting Commercial & Industrial (C&I) Demand Response programs.
Responsibilities
- Carry out on-site evaluations and engineering analysis of commercial and industrial energy systems to assess demand response potential and overall performance.
- Collect, validate, and analyze field data, including load profiles, equipment performance, and operational characteristics.
- Apply engineering principles to develop, calculate, and verify baselines, load reductions, and curtailment strategies.
- Translate data insights into actionable recommendations to improve program outcomes and customer participation.
- Serve as a technical liaison between customers, account managers, and internal engineering teams, providing guidance, training, and support.
- Identify and troubleshoot complex systems and resolve issues using analytical, data-driven approaches while ensuring accuracy and integrity of program data.
Requirements
- 6+ years of relevant experience in energy engineering, field engineering, or technical energy program delivery.
- Associate’s degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience required; Bachelor's degree and background in energy engineering, mechanical/electrical systems, or related field strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience with energy calculations, load analysis, or demand response/energy efficiency programs.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for travel throughout the territory.
- 21+ with a clean valid drivers license.
- Reliable vehicle to travel through defined territory.
Qualifications
- Must be able to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test and consent to the company obtaining a motor vehicle report evidencing a satisfactory driving record.
- Individuals provided a conditional offer of employment for this position must successfully pass a drug test and maintain a clean driving record as an ongoing requirement for continued employment.
- Must meet all DOT qualification requirements and comply with all applicable federal, state, and local transportation regulations.
Skills
- Strong foundation in energy systems, load calculations, and operational analysis.
- Experience with energy calculations, load analysis, or demand response/energy efficiency programs.
- Ability to apply engineering principles to develop, calculate, and verify baselines, load reductions, and curtailment strategies.
- Proficiency in translating data insights into actionable recommendations to improve program outcomes and customer participation.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills using analytical, data-driven approaches.

Pay
Target Compensation: $56,000 - $68,000 depending on experience.
Schedule
This is a safety-sensitive position and may include field work (such as work in industrial/commercial locations and customer homes), warehouse work, or requires driving on behalf of the company.
