Overview

The Director of Engineering is responsible for directing, overseeing, and utilizing functional authority for operation, planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of all projects or process-related activities of engineering design or commissioning.

Responsibilities

  • Directs a design team of project managers, engineers, and technical staff in the development of building designs that support client requirements and schedule.
  • Directs a commissioning team of commissioning agents, and commissioning technicians to perform the commissioning team functions that support client requirements and schedule.
  • Delegates projects among engineering or commissioning staff according to specialized knowledge, skills and abilities; and considers project requirements.
  • Approves process specifications and design or commissioning standards, and reviews engineering designs for accuracy and compliance.
  • Maintains a strong relationship with clients and vendors, and develops new and expanded business based upon successful delivery of existing projects.

Qualifications

  • Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
    • Must have a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from a 4-year accredited program.
    • Acceptable Degree Alternatives: Engineering Technology / Construction Management Degree.
    • 5 years minimum experience as a Project Manager.
    • Alternative Minimum Qualifications: Must have a minimum of 15 years of experience as a Project Manager for the Company.
    • Microsoft Word, Excel, and Microsoft Project experience.
    • Professional Engineering License.
    • Must be able to lead presentations for marketing and business development for projects.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
    • Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.
    • Versed in the industry and the Company's competitors.
    • Ability to multitask and perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary.
  • Preferred Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
    • Project Management Certification from a certifying agency (PMI).

Physical/Work Environment Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Climbing stairs.
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often kneeling, standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Quiet environment.
  • Light work that includes adjusting and/or moving objects up to 20 pounds.
  • Be able to attend job site meetings as well as walk job sites under construction.

Pay Range

USD $116,860.00 - USD $156,050.00 /Yr.
