About the role
Develops designs, layouts, construction drawings, and a bill of material for relatively complex systems and on a number of smaller projects or portions of a larger project for the installation/removal/modification of utility infrastructure on Exelon's electric generation, transmission, distribution, gas and telecommunication facilities/systems.
Performs field engineering and provides designs for both internal and external customers.
May coordinate, track and monitor the electrical requirements of New Business projects to meet customer need dates.
Responsibilities
- Develops designs, layouts, construction drawings, and a bill of material for relatively complex systems and on a number of smaller projects or portions of a larger project for the installation/removal/modification of utility infrastructure on Exelon's electric generation, transmission, distribution, gas and telecommunication facilities/systems.
- Interprets and applies engineering standards and memos.
- Assists with technical consultation, plan developments and recommendations for customer and company systems and processes; e.g., Verify and validate studies, blueprints, or designs against accepted engineering principles and practices.
- Evaluates effectiveness of current design processes.
- Participates on teams; e.g., Design high voltage transmission and distribution circuits, meeting all engineering standards and criteria.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in a technical field and 0-3 years of technical experience, an associate's degree in a technical field and 2 - 5 years of relevant technical experience, or 5-7 years of technical experience or equivalent education if non-degreed or a non-technical or engineering degree.
- Successful completion of the Technician Occupations Selection Systems (TECH) test. (A bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university exempts the TECH Test requirement.)
- Ability to analyze and interpret electrical and mechanical systems.
- Knowledge and ability to apply problem-solving approaches.
- Knowledge of construction, operations or engineering principles and practices.
- Good knowledge and experience with regulations, guides, standards, codes, methods, and practices necessary to perform routine assignments for a specific discipline installations, or service.
- Proficient Computer Drawing and Computer Assisted Design skills.
- Valid driver's license.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
Qualifications
- Relevant education/experience: Knowledge and/or skills that may be acquired through job experiences or education programs similar to a formal technical degree program.
- Relevant experience: Experience in a military role (transmission, distribution, gas, power systems, etc.), project management, journey-level electrician or gas technician, field operations, or other utility related experience.
- Relevant educational experience: Company sponsored training programs (ex. PowerUp Academy) or other educational programs.

- Annual salary will vary based on a candidate’s skills, qualifications, experience, and other factors: $76,000.00/Yr. – $104,500.00/Yr.
