Engineering Co-Op Summer 2027
Summary
The Engineering CO‑OP supports the Engineering group through data collection, data analysis, production support, improvement projects, and capital project work. The role includes time studies, CAD work, analysis of production metrics, and daily support of the Engineering group. The CO‑OP will learn about various production line processes at the Sartori Whey location and may also support other facilities in the Plymouth area. The position is targeted to start in late May/early June 2027 and conclude in December 2027. It is a full‑time, onsite role (Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5 pm with flexible start/end times).
Responsibilities
- Perform process time studies to determine current performance and identify improvement opportunities.
- Identify and measure waste to determine current scrap rates.
- Field‑measure size, position, and location of machines, lines, and process room layouts.
- Redesign or modify machine components.
- Modify or create process work instructions.
- Support R&D production testing as new products are investigated.
- Apply lean manufacturing principles.
- Search databases, catalogs, and manuals for machine‑specific details to support improvement projects.
- Establish credibility with team members throughout the organization.
- Effectively communicate technical information in a professional and understandable manner.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) – required.
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline – required.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications – required.
- Ability to interpret data and apply analytical thinking to solve problems – required.
- Ability to work effectively in a manufacturing environment and collaborate with cross‑functional teams – required.
- Experience with CAD software – preferred.
- Previous internship, co‑op, manufacturing, or engineering‑related experience – preferred.
- Exposure to lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, or process optimization concepts – preferred.
- Experience using data analysis or reporting tools – preferred.

Work Location
Onsite at Sartori’s Whey facility in Plymouth, Wisconsin. Regular onsite presence is required to support engineering projects, manufacturing operations, and cross‑functional collaboration.
Travel Requirements
Occasional travel (up to 10%) for training, meetings, project support, or visits to other Sartori facilities.
Physical Demands
The role regularly requires sitting, using hands to finger, handle, or feel, and talking or hearing. Occasionally the employee must stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Lifting or moving up to 40 lb may be required occasionally. Vision requirements include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
The employee works in a combination of office and manufacturing environments, potentially exposed to varying temperatures, equipment, and production‑related conditions. Personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required when entering production areas. Noise levels range from moderate to moderately loud depending on location.
