STERIS currently has opportunities available for Engineering Co-ops in Research and Development at our Conroe, TX location. These positions assist in the design, development, and release of unique medical device solutions to meet customer unmet needs, while also improving existing products for efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Co-ops work with cross-functional teams in a time-sensitive, regulated environment.
About the role
- Duration: Fall 2026 (August–December)
- Location: Conroe, TX
- Work Environment: Onsite
- Hours: Full-time for the duration of the co-op
Responsibilities
- Develop fixture designs to support production and improve processing, including assembly, injection molding, robotic automation, and fastening operations (pneumatic presses, adhesives, ultrasonic welding)
- Create user-friendly databases to enhance productivity and visually analyze large datasets
- Develop and revise CAD models and drawings in SolidWorks
- Idealize, prototype, and test new product concepts
- Establish mechanical and fluid testing protocols
- Create and update risk management documentation
- Provide technical support and problem-solving for development, production, and facility issues
- Create and revise production work instructions and other manufacturing documentation
- Draft and file accurate design documentation throughout project work
- Submit Engineering Change Orders to revise existing drawings, processes, and documentation
- Collaborate with quality and operations personnel to ensure ISO 13485:2016 compliance
- Perform additional duties or projects as assigned by the department
Requirements
- Pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Biomedical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial)
- Sophomore year requirements completed by program start (August 2026)
- Experience with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications
Preferred Qualifications
- Active involvement in engineering/technical student organizations, competition teams, or honors societies
Pay
$21.00 per hour. Minimum pay rates comply with county/city minimums if higher than the listed range. Rates are based on factors including local labor market costs, relevant experience, education, certifications, and language fluency.
