About the Company

Metrea delivers effects-as-a-service to national security partners across five domains and more than a dozen mission areas, including airborne ISR, electronic warfare, secure communications, aerial refueling, special air missions, aerial firefighting, and advanced simulation. We own the whole stack: designing, building, and operating turnkey capabilities that give our partners decisive, asymmetric advantage against rapidly evolving threats.

Our operating model is built around three interlocking pillars: Support Groups (global shared-services spanning people, finance, platform, operations, legal, and engagement), Core Groups (developing and owning mission capabilities end-to-end), and Market Groups (applying a regional lens to align capabilities with partner needs across the Americas, EMEA, and Asia-Pacific).

Headquartered in Washington, DC, with facilities across the United States, the United Kingdom, Continental Europe, and Asia-Pacific.

About the Group

The Electromagnetic and Cyber Group (EM&C) develops and builds systems for communications and RF sensing. Within EM&C, RADLAB is the radar capability area—a small team building novel capabilities from the ground up, taking ideas from physics and math through simulation, prototype, and test.

About the Role

Metrea Advanced Signals is looking for an engineering Co-Op to work with the team, learn what it takes to succeed in a professional engineering environment, and contribute to developing cutting-edge communications and Radio Frequency (RF) sensing products. The Co-Op will collaborate with our software and hardware teams to develop embedded software for MAS products.

Responsibilities

  • Help design, develop, and test embedded software following an Agile development process.
  • Communicate with your supervisor about your class schedule and availability, especially during exam periods (midterms, finals, etc.).

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Python, C/C++, and Linux.
  • ITAR clearance or ability to obtain it.

Schedule

This is a co-op position with typical working hours of Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Work Environment

This role operates in an office setting with no travel required.

Company Culture

At Metrea, our single core value is Rooted in Humility, and our four cornerstone attributes—Entrepreneurial, Systematic, Discerning, and Over-Deliver—form what we call our Teammate Firmware. This framework defines how we collaborate, solve problems, and adapt quickly in a complex mission space, enabling self-organizing teams to operate with trust, curiosity, and discipline.
