ENGINEERING BRANCH SUPERVISOR AT OFFICE OF ENERGY INFRASTRUCTURE SAFETY (OAKLAND, SACRAMENTO, OR LAKEWOOD, CA)

About the role

The Electric Safety Policy Division (ESPD) is seeking a Program and Project Supervisor to develop cutting-edge policy and oversee the implementation of electrical corporations' efforts to reduce utility-ignited wildfires. This position will lead, supervise, and direct the work of staff within the Engineering Branch.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement policies to reduce utility-ignited wildfires
• Assess electrical corporations' Wildfire Mitigation Plans
• Conduct wildfire safety-related policy work
• Lead, supervise, and direct the work of staff within the Engineering Branch
• Travel may be required, including overnight stays
• Work nonstandard hours, including evenings and weekends
• Attend, but not be limited to, trainings, career/job fairs, conferences, meetings, and other activities necessary to perform job duties

Requirements

• Possession of a valid driver’s license is required when operating a state-owned or leased vehicle
• Travel up to 25% of the time

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, public policy, or a related field
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in electrical utilities, wildfire mitigation, or related fields
• Experience leading and supervising teams
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Skills

• Knowledge of wildfire mitigation strategies and practices
• Ability to analyze data and develop effective policies
• Strong project management skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
