About the role
The Engineering Assistant works closely with the Facilities Engineer for University Housing. The primary purpose of the position is to assist in engineering projects as assigned. This position also assists in crisis management situations, and enforce university and departmental policies.
Responsibilities
- Aid in engineering analysis, including reviewing data, making engineering calculations, drafting and other engineering tasks.
- Conduct research into solutions for specific engineering challenges within the department.
- Report findings both orally and in writing.
- Assist in producing reports outlining project progress or recommendations.
- Develop and assist in presentations for engineering projects.
- Assist in maintaining documentation of work accomplished.
Requirements
- Accepted into the College of Engineering.
- Be in good standing as defined by the University.
- May not exceed 20 hours of work per week, except when classes are not in session.
- Driving as needed to perform job duties.

Qualifications
- Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
Skills
- Knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
- Ability to analyze and interpret data.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills.

Pay
- $14.00 per hour
Schedule
- Must be available to work a minimum of 8 hours of desk shifts per week. This includes overnight shifts (for Night Desk Assistants), weekends, academic breaks, and holidays throughout the semester.
- Work during some home football games as needed by your assigned community.
