Engineering Adjunct (2027 Academic Year)
About the role
Germanna Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education in the Virginia Community College System. As a comprehensive community college, Germanna provides quality, accessible, and affordable educational opportunities for the residents of the City of Fredericksburg and the counties of Caroline, Culpeper, King George, Madison, Orange, Spotsylvania and Stafford. This posting is intended to establish a pool of qualified adjunct candidates for anticipated instructional needs for 2027. Actual hiring and course assignments are contingent upon enrollment, scheduling demands, program needs, and funding availability. As a result, there may or may not be positions filled from this posting.
Responsibilities
- Teach specific classes in the designated discipline.
- Develop course syllabi and instructional materials.
- Maintain records, assign grades, and assess student progress.
- Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations of GCC and the VCCS.
- Maintain current competence in the particular discipline or field of specialization.
- Meet assigned classes regularly; submit required records and reports routinely; teach the prescribed courses of study with the established texts; and adhere to the statement on professional ethics in accordance with College policies, procedures, and regulations.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree with at least eighteen graduate semester hours in Engineering.
- Ability to effectively teach classrooms and online.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Excellent oral/written communication skills.
- Ability to use instructional technology.
- Experience with or willingness to learn artificial intelligence tools.
Qualifications
- Prior teaching experience.
- Work experience in the field.
- Experience with online teaching.
- Substantial, proven experience with innovative teaching and developing online courses in both synchronous and asynchronous learning environments at a regionally accredited institution.
Pay
Hiring Range: $961‑$1,997 per credit hour.
Schedule
Work Schedule: Hours will vary between 8:00 am and 10:00 pm depending on availability and scheduling needs.
