On-siteEngineeringFull-time

We are seeking a Software Development Engineer to design, develop, and maintain software solutions that strengthen Test House automation, improve engineering efficiency, and accelerate release readiness across connected device and network environments. This role combines hands-on software development with test automation framework engineering, lab integration, and operational tooling.

This position is ineligible for visa sponsorship. To be considered for this role, you must be legally authorized to work in the United States and not require sponsorship for employment now or in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Software Development & Platform Engineering
    • Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable software applications, services, APIs, and engineering tools using Java, Python, and JavaScript/TypeScript.
    • Build reusable components and services that improve Test House workflow automation, device management, data collection, and test execution.
    • Participate in technical design, architecture reviews, code reviews, troubleshooting, and the full software development lifecycle.
    • Develop secure, maintainable, and resilient solutions that support lab and Test House operations.
  • Test Automation Framework Development
    • Design, enhance, and maintain test automation frameworks for device, API, UI, network, and end-to-end validation.
    • Develop automation that supports interoperability, longevity, stress, endurance, feature, and release validation testing.
    • Integrate automated tests with CI/CD pipelines to provide repeatable execution and timely engineering feedback.
    • Improve framework reliability, scalability, maintainability, reporting, and failure diagnostics.
  • Wi-Fi & Connected Client Test Environments
    • Configure and maintain Wi-Fi test networks and connected client environments used for automated and manual validation.
    • Set up, onboard, and validate connected clients such as computers, mobile devices, streaming devices, smart-home devices, and other network-connected endpoints.
    • Troubleshoot client connectivity, network configuration, device discovery, authentication, addressing, and communication issues within controlled test environments.
    • Partner with lab and Test House teams to ensure environments, devices, and network dependencies are ready for reliable test execution.
    • Develop automation and utilities that simplify connected-client provisioning, configuration, monitoring, and recovery.
  • Observability, Reporting & Collaboration
    • Develop dashboards, logging, telemetry, and reporting solutions that improve visibility into test execution, failures, environment health, and release readiness.
    • Partner with Development, Quality Engineering, Product, Lab Operations, and Test House teams to translate operational needs into software solutions.
    • Document technical designs, framework usage, environment setup, and operational support procedures.
    • Mentor less-experienced engineers and contribute to software engineering and automation best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 3+ years of applied software development experience.
  • Strong software development experience with Java, Python, and JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Experience designing, developing, debugging, and maintaining test automation frameworks and engineering tools.
  • Experience with object-oriented design, data structures, algorithms, REST APIs, databases, and software design principles.
  • Hands-on knowledge of Wi-Fi networking fundamentals and experience setting up, configuring, and troubleshooting connected client devices in lab or test environments.
  • Experience with source control, automated builds, CI/CD practices, and Agile software development methodologies.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, debugging, and technical communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with automation technologies such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Appium, or comparable frameworks.
  • Experience with Java-based services and frameworks such as Spring Boot.
  • Experience with Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or comparable CI/CD platforms.
  • Experience with Docker, containerized test execution, cloud platforms, or distributed systems.
  • Knowledge of Wi-Fi standards, access points, routers, gateways, IP networking, DHCP, DNS, authentication, and common connectivity troubleshooting techniques.
  • Experience with broadband, video, embedded systems, consumer premises equipment, smart-home ecosystems, or large-scale device labs.
  • Experience developing observability, telemetry, reporting, or test-result analytics solutions.

Success in This Role

  • Expands reliable automation coverage across Test House validation activities.
  • Reduces manual setup and execution effort through reusable software, frameworks, and connected-client automation.
  • Improves test environment stability and shortens the time required to diagnose device, automation, and Wi-Fi connectivity issues.
  • Enables earlier defect detection and more predictable release validation through scalable engineering solutions.
  • Creates clear technical documentation and sustainable solutions that can be adopted across teams and test environments.
