About the role

The Senior Engineer Technician specializes in construction materials testing and inspection, serving as the on-site representative for quality control activities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory and field tests on construction materials following ASTM standards and project specifications.
  • Manage site activities, ensuring safety, quality, and compliance with policies.
  • Interpret project documentation such as plans, specifications, and change orders.
  • Provide written reports of testing results and observations to project teams.
  • Train and evaluate junior technicians, ensuring testing accuracy and consistency.
  • Assist in laboratory operations and act as acting supervisor when needed.
  • Maintain equipment, perform routine maintenance, and ensure safety protocols are followed.
  • Perform duties as a Licensed Public Authority construction observer.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; experience in construction materials testing.
  • Preferred post-secondary education in Engineering, Surveying, or Engineering Technology.
  • Proficiency in interpreting technical documents and standards.
  • Physical ability to perform manual labor, operate vehicles, and work in varied environments.
  • Certifications including valid driver’s license, ACI, Nuclear Moisture/Density, and DOT testing are required.
  • Must adhere to safety and ethical standards, possess strong communication skills, and be capable of physical activity in diverse conditions.
