Engineer-Technical Services
About the role
This position may be filled as an Engineer II or Engineer III at Management’s discretion (based on experience noted in the Education requirements).
Responsibilities
- Manage a company-wide OPP database.
- Review OPP to ensure compliance with DOT code as per company engineering and OM standards.
- Develop cost estimates and budget forecasts for maintenance projects as required.
- Develop Request for Proposal (RFP) bid documents for construction projects and materials, conduct bid process, prepare detailed bid analysis, select successful contractor.
- Effectively plan, schedule, manage and report on multiple capital and maintenance projects with various deadlines and responsibility levels.
- Ensure that projects comply with company safety, health, and environmental regulations.
- Oversee the construction, installation, and commissioning of OPP/PSV and other projects, managing budgets and timelines effectively.
- Manage internal and external resources.
- Be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Collect, review, organize and publish project and compliance related documentation into project job books that will be audited by regulatory agencies and retained for the life of the asset.
- Provide engineering expertise and support to Operations, ensuring successful project completion.
- Serve as a field engineer to manage maintenance and troubleshooting of OPP/PSV at Tallgrass facilities.
- Complete technical research and provide technical guidance on OPP/PSVs.
- Provide technical guidance on the application of industry codes and standards as well as federal regulations governing natural gas and other gas and hazardous liquid by pipeline to Tallgrass engineering standards and OM procedures.
- Create, review, and revise company engineering, operations and maintenance, and construction standards.
- Participate in industry research groups as required.
- Collaborate with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy, and professionalism.
- Speak clearly, both in person and by telephone, using a high level of verbal skills and listen carefully.
- Regular, dependable work attendance and a fully competent level of performance is expected.
- Will work non-traditional hours as needed.

Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience/Specific Knowledge: A minimum of 2-6 years experience in engineering. Job level commensurate with experience and skill sets; position will be filled depending on qualifications, experience and skill sets of the successful candidate.
- Knowledge: On the sizing and application of OPP/PSVs in the natural gas, oil, or CO2 transmission industry. Knowledge of the natural gas, oil, or CO2 transmission industry, pipeline/facilities design, construction, operation and testing. Knowledge of ROW, EHS and regulatory clearances for energy projects.
- Competencies, Skills & Abilities: Strong problem-solving skills and a solid understanding of engineering concepts. Proficiency in basic project management skills. Familiarity and ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical blueprints and diagrams, including flow charts, cause/effect diagrams, and Piping and Instrument Drawings (P&IDs). Familiarity with pipeline and facility design calculations and equations. Familiarity and ability to read and interpret basic GIS information and maps and aboveground facilities civil, mechanical and electrical drawings. Must be able to work with a team, take direction from management, adhere to required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules. Ability to organize and prioritize work to successfully perform work on simultaneous projects and tasks to meet deadlines.
Physical Demands
Frequent overnight travel may be required. Overtime and/or extended work hours may be required depending on project requirements. Required to carry a cell phone and be available to respond during working and non-working hours.

Compensation
The salary range for this role is $80,700-$181,300/yr
