The Mechanical Engineering Organization seeks an Engineer Systems Modeling & Simulation at the Chandler, AZ facility to develop complex dynamic models of launch vehicles, verify model quality, and determine steady and transient launch vehicle responses during liftoff, ascent, and staging.
Responsibilities
- Perform multi-body kinematics simulations for separation events like fairing deployment, staging, and spacecraft separation.
- Define scope of task, perform analyses utilizing appropriate classical and computer-aided techniques, and prepare results for presentations and analysis reports.
- Contribute to the success of vital defense systems that protect the nation by supporting cutting-edge development of upcoming long-range missile defense interceptors, targets, space launch, and strike vehicles.
- Develop complex dynamic models of launch vehicles under limited supervision.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) with 16 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in STEM with 14 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in STEM with 12 years of related engineering experience.
- Ability to obtain a US Government Secret security clearance.
- In-depth knowledge of vibration theory, structural dynamics, rigid body dynamics, and finite element methods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Active US Government Secret security clearance, or higher at the time of application.
- Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
- Proficiency in FEA software, preferably NASTRAN, ABAQUS, or Femap.
- Proficiency in MATLAB or Python.
- Ability to apply fundamental analytical techniques and prepare written analyses.
- Previous experience with launch vehicle coupled loads analysis (CLA) and Craig-Bampton models.
- Experience with modal test, modal analysis, or explicit dynamics/FEA.
- Familiarity with Linux.
Pay
Primary salary range: $183,200.00 – $274,800.00. The above range represents a general guideline; base salary offers consider factors such as scope, responsibilities, experience, education, skills, and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may also be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
