About the Role

This position will support the maturation of thread capabilities for a manned aircraft mission. The System Architect will work as a Thread Lead to mature capabilities through functional analysis and Model-based Systems Engineering (MBSE) processes to deliver just-in-time design and optimize the development schedule for incremental capability development and early integration.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with stakeholders (subsystem developers, system integrators, system testers, system requirements engineers) to deliver quality design products
  • Leading Thread Capability detailed planning and defining acceptance criteria
  • Managing tracking of the development schedule
  • Supporting development of thread integration plans and procedures
  • Maintaining technical cognizance of subsystem interdependencies and maturity of ICDs to identify and resolve gaps
  • Incorporating cross-IPT feedback to support development and Integrated Functional Capability (IFC) approval of products, including:
    • Models of interface input/output (messages, fields, signals) between subsystems
    • Integration procedures
    • Development schedules
    • Models of software-to-hardware deployment and interface protocols
    • Mapping between requirements and design

Requirements

Engineer Level

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline and 2 years of related professional/military experience, or
  • Master of Science degree in a STEM discipline and 0 years of related professional/military experience, or
  • STEM Ph.D. and 0 years of related professional/military experience
  • Active DoD Secret clearance or higher (background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled in Continuous Evaluation)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance prior to employment commencement
  • Knowledge of developing model-based systems engineering products
  • Knowledge of Atlassian Tool Suite

Principal Engineer Level

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline and 5 years of related professional/military experience, or
  • Master of Science degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related professional/military experience, or
  • STEM Ph.D. and 1 year of related professional/military experience
  • Active DoD Secret clearance or higher (background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled in Continuous Evaluation)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance prior to employment commencement
  • Experience with Atlassian Tool Suite
  • Experience developing model-based systems engineering products

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS or PhD in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
  • Strong technical written and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and present technical material to various stakeholders
  • Experience with embedded software development
  • Experience integrating complex systems across multiple domains
  • Experience demonstrating concepts to management and customers
  • Understanding of SAFe Principles and Implementation

Pay

Primary Level Salary Range: $79,300.00 - $118,900.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00

The above salary ranges represent general guidelines. Northrop Grumman considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions when determining base salary offers. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
