The Role
The E44-Networks, Communications & Automation software development group within Newport News Shipbuilding is seeking a highly skilled, motivated individual to join its Embedded Controls and HMI team. You will have the opportunity to contribute throughout all stages of the software development lifecycle from requirements through customer validation. You will apply your software programming skills, your architectural knowledge, and leadership toward the development, deployment, and maintenance of our software management and monitoring system application and embedded operating system utilized on Navy vessels. Common software engineering activities as noted herein.

Requirements
- Meet HII’s Newport News Shipbuilding
- Must Have:
- Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of relevant exempt experience;
- Master’s Degree and 3 years of relevant professional experience;
- Ph.D. and 0 years of experience.
- Nice to Have:
- Strong background in programming and troubleshooting of embedded systems, Java applications, and Linux operating systems
- Foundational knowledge and experience with networking and virtual machines
- Use of and interaction with relational databases associated with data driven design
- Good communication skills in support of technical exchanges with peers, customers and software suppliers
